St. Benedict Parish is a Safe Environment

The Diocese of Phoenix requires that all volunteers, at all facilities, maintain current Safe Environment training certification before participating in any ministry. Additionally, proof of training, attendance and participation must be updated in the Diocesan Safe Environment database annually, on or after July 1. Regardless of when your last training class took place, all volunteers must seek renewal certification for the new year as soon as possible after July 1 in order to continue your important ministry work in parish ministries.

  • If you have already been Safe Environment trained:
You can renew your certification by participating in an online class. To do so, please login to the Diocesan Safe Environment Database using your first name, last name and street address. You may be asked to update your contact details so please make sure these are correct then proceed to the next step. You will be shown the classes that you are required to take for your specific role(s) in ministry. Classes take only a short amount of your time and can be completed at your convenience, day or night, though once you begin a class, it must be completed in one sitting.
  • If you have never taken a Safe Environment Class:
You must attend an in-person foundation class for initial certification. These classes are offered at parishes throughout the Diocese through the year. For a list of upcoming classes, please visit this page and register for a class that is convenient for you to attend.

To ensure a safe parish environment for all and to fully comply with Diocesan requirements, we ask that you complete your renewal process no later than July 31 each year. If you have questions, please feel free to contact our Safe Environment Coordinator, Mary Ziebell.
