Adult Formation Opportunities
Adult formation and education is an opportunity to deepen our faith and understanding of being Catholic. Through study of Scripture and the church’s teachings, we can continue to grow in our relationship with God and one another. You are invited to join together for classes, lecture series, Bible study, faith sharing, sacramental preparation, and parish missions for intellectual, spiritual, and sacramental growth that will include a variety of topics including personal and family values, parenting, spirituality, Bible history-content-background- application, women in scripture, morality, aging and death, peace and justice, and other timely and pertinent topics of interest.

Ø
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA): The
RCIA is the process through which the Roman Catholic Church welcomes, instructs,
and forms new members. This process
is for adults who wish to be fully initiated into the Roman Catholic Church.
Fully initiated members of the church are those who receive the three
sacraments of initiation 1) Baptism (or Profession of Faith for already baptized
Christians), 2) Confirmation, and 3) Eucharist.
Practicing Catholics are always welcomed and are needed to be
instructional team members and sponsors of persons seeking full initiation.

Ø Baptismal Preparation: The Baptism of infants is the first sacrament received for initiation into the Roman Catholic Church. The baptism of your baby is a time for celebration and joy. Certainly you want the best for your baby and we want to help you plan and prepare for the baptism in the best possible way. Preparation includes an interview and a baptism class. Your most important “preparation” is to look at your own faith and practices. Parents wishing to have their baby baptized must be registered and participating members of the Parish of St. Benedict. Baptism of adults see RCIA.
Baptisms of children (grades 2-8) see Family Journey.
Baptisms of teens see Family Journey.
Ø Faith and Fellowship - Small Church Communities: This is a unique opportunity to gather with other Catholics in the same manner that the early disciples gathered together in small groups to share their faith and belief in the Resurrection of Jesus the Christ. They came together in faith and fellowship to share the story of the risen Christ and to share their story of faith and understanding of the events. Now, we are invited to follow the early Christian’s example. Small Church Communities are groups of couples and individuals, young and old, who meet in someone’s home or at church to pray, reflect, and share their own story and faith journey. The group can meet wherever, whenever, and how often they would like using materials of their choice to help guide them during their gathering. Contact: Diane Orban 480-961-1610.
Ø Dinner For Eight: This is a great way to get to know your fellow parish members. Dinner for eight is a series of informal dinners at which you and other families from St. Benedict share food and fellowship. Your family or couple will be grouped with three or four other parish families or couples to get together for a meal in the afternoon or evening once a month for four months. The host family provides the main dish and each of the other families bring a side dish. There is only a four-time commitment – once a month for four months. Contat: Mark & Rhonda Weber 480-598-1511.
Ø Adult Education: Kino Institute offers formal classes for credit or audit in Theology, Scripture, and Spiritual Direction. Contact: Diane Orban 480-961-1610 or Kino Institute 602-997-7396.
Ø Vocations, Religious Life, Ministry: God may be calling you or family members to vocation as a priest or permanent deacon. God may be calling you to the religious life as a sister or brother. You may be receiving a call from God to lay ministry. Find out! Through prayer, discernment and information gathering. We are here to help you find your way in answering the call to serve.
