Children’s Faith Formation

Here at the Parish of St. Benedict, we believe that parents are the primary teachers of our Catholic faith. In order to assist our families in their spiritual journey, we offer faith formation programs for all grade levels so that, together, we may plant and help grow the seeds of faith.

Our Programs

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Ages: 3 – 9 years

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is based on a Montessori style learning environment. Classes are held in a room called the Atrium and incorporate hands-on activities to enable your children to explore and understand their faith in a story-driven, self-directed, spiritual environment.

Journey of Faith for Children

Grades: Kindergarten – 5th

Journey of Faith is a grade level based learning environment that uses workbooks, crafts, skits, prayer, song, and interactive online content to engage your children as they continue their journey with Christ. As a class, children and their Catechists join together to discuss Scripture, tradition, and teachings of the Catholic church. We offer classes for Kindergartners through 5th grade.

Liturgy of the Word for Children

Grades: Kindergarten – 3rd

Liturgy of the Word for Children is held during the 9:00am Sunday Mass. After the entrance procession, children grades K-3 are invited to gather in the back meeting room in the church to hear and discuss the Scripture readings at their level, returning to their families after the Homily. Although this program is free and does not require registration, parents are always welcome to join their children or assist as a Catechist. It runs most Sundays throughout the school year.
