Parish of St. Benedict

The term “Children’s Liturgy of the Word” refers to the practice of children leaving the Sunday assembly and gathering elsewhere to celebrate a separate Liturgy of the Word that is more appropriate to their level of understanding. By adapting liturgical celebrations, we can make them more accessible to children and gradually lead them to full, conscious and active participation in the mass.

Liturgy of the Word with Children is available at the Parish of St. Benedict for school-age children during the 9 am mass on Sunday. Volunteer leaders facilitate the liturgy; discussing the readings and helping children understand them better.

Volunteer Opportunity: If you are interested in volunteering for this ministry, you may also be moved to a new understanding of our faith and gain a deeper personal relationship with Christ. Volunteers must have Safe Environment Training and complete training for the ministry.
