Bereavement
The death of a loved one, either a family member or a close friend, is often a traumatic experience. Regardless of the circumstances, one can never fully prepare for a death. It raises many emotions and questions – “No, this has not happened. Why? What am I going to do? How will I survive without him or her? What will the future be like?” The questions are many and often the answers are few.
The purpose of the Bereavement Outreach Ministry is to bring together those who have lost someone special and share this common experience. The intent of the group is not necessarily to offer answers, but to provide support to those facing such questions. The ministry provides those who have experienced a loss the opportunity to share their experiences, feelings and emotions in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental setting, knowing that others are going through the same life-changing loss.
The Bereavement Outreach Ministry program offered by the Parish of St. Benedict is a series of eight meetings on the first and third Mondays of each month. The next series of meetings will begin on Monday, May 2. We meet in the church Meeting Room 1 at 5 pm and end by 6:30 pm. All are welcome.
