Confirmation

Confirmation perfects our Baptism and seals us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation at the Parish of St. Benedict is provided to all students in 4th grade or older who have already received the sacrament of the Eucharist, but have not yet been confirmed. Students currently involved in religious formation through Journey of Faith for Families, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, St. John Bosco Catholic School, a Catholic High School or another method of religious education approved by the Diocese of Phoenix are eligible to participate.

Parents attend all meetings with their children and are responsible that preparation continues at home with the family. At meetings, parents and children will be engaged in presentations with presentations from the Pastor and Formation staff, or scriptural meditations that will help in their understanding of this sacrament. At home, parents will work with their children regularly in a Confirmation textbook, in the New Testament reviewing scripture meditations, and doing other handouts and projects provided. In addition, students are asked to seek out service work individually or as a family.

The Confirmation Preparation program creates opportunities for growth and greater understanding of the gifts of the Spirit, the Spirit’s call in each of our lives and our call to respond.

Through the leadership of parents and the interaction this process provides, family members can grow closer to each other, as well as deepen their relationship with God.

Cost: There is a fee of $25.
Meeting dates: Please see the Calendar of Events for meeting dates and times.

Those who have been baptized in the Catholic Church, have been active in the Church, but missed celebrating First Eucharist and/or Confirmation may participate in this process of sacramental preparation which is usually held during the Lenten Season and celebrates those sacraments at the Easter Vigil.

Adults and children of our initiation community are the most important sign of the conversion to which the Lord calls each of us. May each of us take the journey of faith growth and change seriously. Parishioners are invited to encourage and pray for all in our initiation community and to welcome others.
