First Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation imparts pardon and peace to us as Catholics, and allows us to be reconciled with the Church.

At the Parish of St. Benedict, we approach preparation for this beautiful sacrament as a family affair – helping families grow in their understanding of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and in their ability to reconcile with one another. Reconciliation preparation is provided to all children in 2nd grade or older who have completed a year of religious formation through Journey of Faith for Families, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, St. John Bosco Catholic School, or another method of religious education approved by the Diocese of Phoenix.

This program recognizes parents as the first catechists of their children, and parents are given tools to prepare their children for this sacrament within the family. Parents attend all meetings with students and work with their children regularly in a Reconciliation textbook, in the New Testament reviewing scripture meditations, and other handouts and projects that are provided. In addition, students are asked to attend a reflection prior to the Reconciliation Celebration.

Cost: There is a fee of $25.
Meeting dates: Please see the Calendar of Events for meeting dates and times.
Volunteer Opportunity: Please contact Diane Orban if you are interested in volunteering to help with this ministry. Volunteers must have Safe Environment Training and complete training for the ministry.
