Holy Week

03-29-2021Weekly Flocknote MessageFr. James Aboyi, V.C.

Welcome to the Holy Week which began on Palm Sunday. We all missed the Holy Week last year as a result of the Pandemic. I know most of us are excited to hear that our Governor has relaxed a number of the COVID-19 restrictions. However, given the usual high number of Mass attendance at this time, I appeal for your patience and suggest we continue to wear facemasks and keep physical distance through the Holy Week until we determine how to implement the changes safely in our parish community. I am looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Mass soon.

Traditionally, Holy Week is considered a period of retreat when we intensify our Lenten observances and prayer. We are invited to carry our crosses and follow Jesus Christ through this week as we bring our Lenten observances to conclusion on Good Friday. I encourage you to set aside a quiet time with the Lord in front of the Blessed Sacrament during the week. Our Church doors will remain open during office hours. You may also find any nearby Church to spend some time with the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Please pray with me through the Holy Week for two major parish intentions: for the success of our Church building plan, and for God’s guidance in the selection of the new Principal for our school.

Thank you from Via Christi Society

On behalf of the Superior General of my Religious Society, Via Christi Society, I would like to express my appreciation to all of you for the second collection last weekend. My special thanks to those who expressed their willingness to sponsor a seminarian for us. May God continue to bless and provide for you as you support the mission of the Church.

Thank you to Event Committee

A very big “Thank You” to Lani Gore, our Coordinator of the Event Ministry, and all the members of the ministry for organizing the Easter Basket Raffle Draw and the Chick-Fil-A fundraiser. Both events have been very successful. We will draw the winning raffle tickets right after the 6am Mass on Easter Sunday. If you have not yet purchased your ticket, please do so as soon as possible before the deadline of Wednesday, March 31 at 4 pm. Please visit our parish website and bulletin for more information about how to purchase the tickets.

Update: Charity and Development Appeal (CDA)

During the week, I received an update for our parish participation in the Charity and Development Appeal (CDA). I was delighted to see that 177 families from our parish community have participated in the CDA so far with a total pledge of $52,922. This represents 62% of our total goal of $85,000. I thank those who have already participated. I encourage those who have not participated yet to please consider sending their pledge or payment this week.

Please Note: Weekend Memo will take a break next week, Good Friday.

Have a wonderful weekend and Remain Blessed.

Fr James Aboyi, VC
Pastor
