Congratulations to Nikki Garza for being hired as our new Liturgy Coordinator. Nikki is well-known to everyone in our parish as the “Lady with the Golden Voice” in our choir. Her first day at work is July 6th. Nikki will be responsible for planning our Liturgical services and coordinating the Sacristans, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, Lectors, Art and Environment Ministers, Hospitality Ministers and all ministries and individuals involved in Liturgy. I assure Nikki of my prayers and support in her new responsibility, and I ask for your prayers and support for her too.

New Fiscal Year

Welcome to the month of July, which begins our new fiscal year, 2022. We started the past fiscal year, 2021, during the peak of the pandemic and ended the year still within the period of the pandemic, making it the most challenging fiscal year in the history of our parish. I thank God for His blessings and protection through the fiscal year. My special thanks to the President and members of our Parish Finance Council for their support and guidance through the very challenging fiscal year. The Council met on Wednesday of last week and approved the 2022 budget. I will present our Annual Finance Report to you by September/October.

The new fiscal year also marks the beginning of our gradual return to our normal parish life. As I had announced earlier, we will discontinue the live-streaming of Daily Masses and offering of Holy Communion outside Mass beginning this weekend. However, the live-streaming of the 5pm Saturday and 9am Sunday Masses will continue until further notice. Another significant change is the return to our normal office hours from 9am to 5pm (Mon to Fri). Please note, in keeping with our summer tradition, the parish office will be closed every Friday through the month of July.

New Temporary Assignments

I would like to inform you that Bishop Olmsted has assigned Fr. Wilfred on a temporary assignment to St. Mary Parish in Kingman, AZ. This is a two-month temporary assignment beginning next weekend. He will be returning to our parish by mid-September. He is going there to cover for the Pastor of the parish who will be out of the country for that time period. Similarly, Fr. Manasseh Iorchir, VC, has been assigned temporarily to our St. Benedict parish for the same time frame. Fr. Manasseh will be arriving from Nigeria on Thursday. I will introduce him to the community next weekend. Please keep Fr. Wilfred and Fr. Manasseh in your prayers for God’s guidance in their new temporary responsibilities.

Have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Independence Celebration!

Remain Blessed,

Fr James Aboyi, VC
Pastor
