Lectors

A lector is called to share with the community the stories of our ancestors in faith.

Because a lector is called to be a leader of the assembly, through proclamation of the living Word of God, they are called to prepare themselves extensively for this ministry. This involves the external preparation of public speaking, such as diction, enunciation and pronunciation. However an internal or spiritual preparation is needed as well. This would involve delving into the background of the reading through an understanding characters, time and place.

“The Word becomes flesh and dwells among us when the reader removes it from the printed page and enables it to live anew.”
